We believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God.
Jesus is referred to as the Son of God because Jesus came to the earth, was born of a virgin being supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary and was born without a sinful nature as the Son of God.
23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
Matthew 1:23 NIV
We believe that Jesus Christ was also born as the Son of Man.
He refers to Himself as the Son of Man to remind us that although He was God He took on human form and voluntarily gave up the use of His divine powers. He did this in order to show us that He understands how we feel when we are tempted to do the things that we know are wrong. Unlike us however, He did not yield to those temptations and remained sinless His entire life.
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
Philippians 2:6-7 NIV
We believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, died and was resurrected from the dead.
Because God the Father is perfect, He requires that we pay a penalty for the temptations that we give in to every day. These are called sins and all people everywhere have committed them. (Romans 3:10-12, 23)
God has determined that the penalty for these sins is spiritual death and eternal separation from Him. (Romans 6:23). The only way that we can avoid this punishment for our sins is to be able to offer Him a sacrifice that is worthy of His forgiveness but nothing we have or possess is good enough for Him. Only a perfect sinless human sacrifice could appease the penalty that God demands for sin. Jesus Christ was that perfect sinless human sacrifice. God accepted this sacrifice and allowed us to be free from punishment. Jesus Christ died in our place.
After three days in the grave, Jesus Christ came back to life, walked on the earth, for many days, was seen by many witnesses and then ascended into heaven. (Matthew 27:46-28:10)
We believe that Jesus Christ became the only means by which man can have a relationship with God
The resurrection of Christ established the fact that Christ was indeed deity, and therefore what He said about Himself was true. He said that He was God and the Savior of man and most importantly that He was the only way for anyone to have a relationship with God. (John 14:6)
